The Lady of The World is an independent publication about film, culture, women, ideas and everyday life, featuring original journalism, interviews, reviews and personal perspectives from journalist and filmmaker Amancay Tapia.
I wanted somewhere to write about the things I’m genuinely interested in — film, culture, women, books, ideas, people and the world around me.
I’ve always been curious. I can watch a film and want to know who made it, read something that sends me down a completely different rabbit hole, or meet someone whose story makes me want to ask another ten questions.
That curiosity is really what this site is about.
Over the years, my work has taken me through journalism, filmmaking, television and theatre, and The Lady of The World has grown alongside me. Some of the writing here is based on my own experiences; some comes from interviews, films, books, places I’ve visited and conversations I’ve had.
I don’t have a strict formula for what belongs here. If something makes me think, surprises me, annoys me, inspires me or simply makes me want to know more, there’s a good chance I’ll write about it.
So, welcome to The Lady of The World. It’s my corner of the internet — and a collection of the stories, people and ideas that have caught my attention along the way.
