Creative People

If you are a creative person, you will probably recognise that feeling of not quite fitting in with everyone else. It doesn’t really matter what you do for a living — you could be a State agent, a doctor, a writer or an artist. Creativity isn’t about a profession or a job title. It is about the way you see the world, what you feel and what you are passionate about.

Oh, and the picture above is of me in the gardens of Keats House in Hampstead.

I came across this Bukowski poem as an English Literature student at university, and it immediately made sense to me:

I am not like other people other people are like other people.

they are all alike; joining grouping huddling

they are both gleeful and content and I am burning in hell.

my heart is a thousand years old. I am not like other people.

– Poem by Charles Bukowski.
